Welcome to the Indiana Student Financial Aid Association (ISFAA)

Hello ISFAA members,

It’s an honor to welcome you to what I know will be a transformative year for our association. I’m Colby Shank, and I’m proud to serve as your ISFAA President for the 2025–2026 year.

For the past decade, I’ve worked in this profession, and like many of you, I’ve weathered the highs, the lows, and the “wait, they’re changing financial aid again?” moments. I’ve learned that through challenge comes resilience—and that through community, we build strength. That’s why ISFAA matters so much. It’s more than an association; it’s a home base for people who believe in the power of education, opportunity, and community.

This year, we’re building on that foundation. Our goals are big, and I believe they should be. We’ll launch a new website, a fresh logo, and a revamped ISFAA store. We’re bringing you all 16 NASFAA credential training sessions, low-cost FAAC prep workshops, and ISFAA’s very first Directors Day event. We’re growing our leadership development efforts, hosting another impactful College Goal Sunday, and—yes—building a stronger sense of community through our new ISFAA Slack space and ISFAA Communities initiative.

And while we’ll continue our work to ensure every student has a pathway to success, we’re also focused inward—making sure you, the professionals doing this work, feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow.

But none of this happens without you.

ISFAA is powered by volunteers. If you’ve served before, thank you for all you’ve done. If you’ve ever thought, “Maybe this is the year I get involved,” let me tell you—this is the year. We need your voice, your energy, your ideas. You can get started by filling out our volunteer form.

Whether you’ve been in the field for 20 weeks or 20 years: you belong here.

Let’s make this year meaningful—for our students, for our profession, and for each other.

With appreciation,

Colby Shank, FAAC®
ISFAA President 2025–2026

The Indiana Student Financial Aid Association (ISFAA) is Indiana’s financial aid professional organization. We are an association of college and university financial aid administrators, lenders, guarantors, and other associated organizations and individuals interested in helping students meet their costs for higher education.

ISFAA serves the needs of students, institutions of higher education, government agencies, and private funding sources through community outreach, coordination and development of programs for student financial aid. To accomplish this purpose, ISFAA promotes the professional preparation, effectiveness and recognition of all those concerned with the administration of student financial aid. In addition, ISFAA assists with communications between institutions of post-secondary education and sponsors of student financial aid to encourage best practices.

The Association serves as the state forum and acts as the focus for the expression of views on matters relating to the development, funding, and administration of student financial aid at the state, regional, and national levels. The primary intent of the ISFAA website is to serve the members of the association, although we eagerly want to help all who are interested in information about financial aid availability and attempt to do so through the resources and links herein.
